Our most popular question the last few days has been this: How should I pack? What kind of weather can I expect?

I have good news for you! We will be traveling to Israel at the most moderate time of year in regards to weather. The temperature in March generally tends to move between 18-24 degrees Celsius. Since Israel is such a geographically diverse nation, the weather can be quite different depending on where you are. Cooler areas tend to be in the North. The more moderate to warm areas include Tel-Aviv and surrounding area where we will spend some of our time. Rain is a possibility at this time of year as well. You may wish to carry a small collapsible umbrella in case it rains. Or if you would rather not be bothered with carrying an umbrella while walking the streets of Jerusalem, we would suggest bringing a poncho and a rain hat in case of the rain.

So what does all this mean? This means you may want to pack along shorts and T-shirts but I would also suggest throwing a sweater, long-sleeved shirt and few pairs of pants in the mix for those cooler days or evenings. Bringing a light water-resistant jacket along would be a good idea as well. If you are particularly sensitive to cooler weather you may wish to bring a somewhat warmer jacket or plan on dressing in layers.

Also something to consider: we will be visiting a few Catholic sites which require that your shoulders and knees are covered. Please bring along appropriate clothing for these sites (pants or long skirt/T-shirt or blouse). Also, we would suggest bringing along an outfit of casual dress clothes as we may be worshipping with a Messianic Jewish Church.

Overall, the weather should be mild. Not too hot and not too cold; just perfect for our time there. You can stay up to date on the weather forecast as we are closer to our departure date. We suggest that you check the weather for Jerusalem and Tel Aviv.

Today we are one day closer!

We have some very, very exciting news to share!

We sold out Break Forth Israel 2012 in 10 days. That’s almost unheard of. That left many disappointed people who didn’t book in time. Now, we have a long waiting list and new requests added almost daily.

But here’s the great news. . .

We felt so bad about so many people missing out on this incredible opportunity that we were able to find another bus, staff and 35 more spaces.

We are so thrilled about this.

When we think of the powerful ministry that will happen right in the footsteps where Jesus and great heroes of the faith walked, we are filled with inexpressible joy. Hans Weichbrodt and his special guests and scholars will provide powerful times of ministry and learning beyond compare. Worship and prayer times will be powerful. Fellowship will forge forever friendships. The food will be excellent and the pace will be perfect.

Please understand. We don’t want to put any pressure on you or your friends. However, if you know people who want to come along we believe that you’ll need to move quickly.

VISIT www.breakforthjourneys.com TO REGISTER!

Dear Break Forth Israel Friend –

One of the questions we received when we returned from Israel was, “What’s the food like?”

Most people expected the typical Middle East meal of hummus and falafels. That’s exactly what we expected as well.

Of course, hummus, pita and falafels are everywhere but the food is so much more.

We asked our primary guide what typical Israeli food was. Instead of giving an answer, he posed a question . . .

“Where did the Jews come from when they returned to the new state of Israel?”

“From all over the world,” was our answer.

“That’s right”, he said. He then went on to gush with pride, “I believe Israel’s food is the best in the world because we bring the very best of the best from every culture to create the most diverse food in the world. We came from more than 80 different countries, bringing with us the foods and recipes we developed during our wanderings. We use the best herbs and spices, the best meats, the best vegetables, the best fruit and we create a feast that overwhelms your taste buds with the flavours of the world. When you add this with other Jewish recipes, dietary laws and native ingredients, there is no place like Israel that offers this culinary experience.”

Our guide was right.

Over the 6 day trip our taste buds danced with joy.

We’ve travelled many places in the world and we will have to say that the food in Israel was the best overall of any country we’ve been in.

If you prefer more basic foods you can certainly find those in Israel. However, if you’d like to take your taste buds on a journey around the world from the comfort of a single country then you are in for a real treat.

We hope you can Break Forth Israel for the pilgrimage of a lifetime . . . your heart, mind and taste buds will thank you.

In Christ,
